• Seek funding to install skate park and BMX track

An improved Millennium Park would be a great place for young people to meet and play as well as provide a recreation area for the wider community. The project will provide a programme of events and activities within the park for everyone, thereby returning the park to its place at the centre of the community involving schools, businesses, volunteers and the general public.

It is proposed to set up, deliver and install the individual parts of this community programme project and, with the support of PARKLIFE, the associated action group, local councillors and volunteers, oversee the running of its various activities, to improve the recreational amenity of the park and simultaneously improve social cohesion.  The installation of CCTV will promote a safer environment in the whole park area, improving quality of life for the wider neighbourhood.

There will be programmes for all age groups, the length and frequency to be determined by demand and the Park Plan. Management of the park grounds will remain the responsibility of the Town Council.

Extensive efforts have been made to involve the wider public.  Many client groups have been included as beneficiaries of the plan whilst others such as people living in the immediate neighbourhood have been widely consulted through a  community survey and public meetings.

The Charities commission has agreed to the plans submitted by Fakenham Recreation Ground Charity in support of the Park Life action group.  Existing amenities will remain with some improvements and popular features such as a skate park are planned.  

The development will however depend upon successful bids for grant funding and associated fund raising activities.  The organisers would like to hear from the original supporters, and anyone else wishing to help with fund raising events, to get this show back on the road…(or in the park)!
