After successfully piloting in the eastern area of Norfolk, the Community Speed Watch scheme is now being rolled out county-wide. Under the auspices of Fakenham Area Partnership a number of interested volunteers from community groups in Fakenham and surrounding villages recently met at the Connect building with Inspector David Rust, the Norfolk Constabulary project manager, to find out more about the Speed Watch Project for our area.  The presentation was very interesting and informative, followed by a practical exercise in Oak Street. Most of those present were enthused and took away application and vetting forms to sign up for official training before going out ‘on the beat’.  If you think that speeding traffic has a negative social impact and you would like to take an active role in speed monitoring in your area, please contact the partnership office, 01328 851555, for further details of our next briefing session when you can find out how to get involved with a neighbourhood team.

With a grant from the Town Council and the continuing support of local businesses the Area Partnership ‘Fakenham in Bloom’ team ‘stormed’ the town centre again in June. After an initial setback with some very unseasonable winds the 110 baskets and 24 troughs are now blossoming, filling the town with colour and putting a smile back on our community face.  Following through with the mutual support theme, this year members of the Fakenham Area Conservation Team, led by Geoff Fletcher and Robin Parker, have agreed to manage the watering and maintenance programme.

For comments, queries or further information please call 01328 851555 or 863343.

In March the Tourist Information Point opened for its fourth season.  Supported again by grants from the Town Council and the North Norfolk Community Partnership, the project and a team of volunteers are managed by the Area Partnership.  Located conveniently within the Library in Oak Street, the desk, which has dealt with nearly 1400 enquiries so far this season, is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday mornings, until 31 October.  Phone 01328 855851 for further information.

Refurbishment in the Library building will disrupt the service for two weeks from 8th September. During this period calls will be diverted to a help line for a morning service only, Monday to Friday, but accommodation details will remain posted in the library window.

Fakenham Area Partnership is always looking to expand its support network of partners and members.  If you have a local organisation in the town or a surrounding village and would like to join us or simply find out more  -   please contact the partnership office on  – 01328 851555 or alternatively, visit our website at www.fakenhamareapartnership.co.uk
